Eoin Kane admitted that scoring what proved to be Ballymena United's winning goal in the Toals County Antrim Shield final was the stuff of dreams.

The midfielder, who turned 20 between Saturday’s Irish Cup defeat by Linfield and last night’s Shield win against the same opponents, scored a memorable goal to put Ballymena 3-1 ahead, which was just enough to repel the Blues’ late onslaught which saw them twice strike the woodwork in injury time.

“Absolutely brilliant - I can’t even explain how I feel!” said Eoin, an IT apprentice.
