Sewer problems at Pollock Mews

A LURGAN man has said he is fed up with constant sewage problems in his housing development.

Kenny Clydesdale said he has been plagued with overflowing sewage for months now in the Pollock Mews area.

However, the developer has said the problem is with a resident putting the wrong material into the system.

The 'MAIL' first highlighted the problem in April when NI Water said it could not intervene until the development was finished.

Carew Development, the company responsible for Pollock Mews, said they wanted the development completed but had to wait until all the houses were sold.

Kenny said: "I'm just fed up with it and want the problem fixed once and for all.

"There have been all these problems, the sewers need fixed and we have no street lighting.

"I'm sick of it, the sewers overflow and it stops, the workmen have a look and then a few days later the problems return.

"It's not good enough."

Eileen McKnight of Carew Development said the misuse of the sewer system was causing the flooding.

She said: "All we can do is clear blockages when they are reported.

"Someone in the development is putting materials into the system which it is not designed for.
